Reasons Why Research Journal’s Evaluation is Needed

Research Journal Evaluation is a part of quality assurance for the editors and publishers. An experienced person who remains involved in research publishing and its management helps early-stage journals/publishers.

Most of the time editors usually prefer to play only the subject expert role, They are rarely get trained for the journal editor’s work, so usually not able to notice many technical points. An expert familiar with all technical points may help the editor/publishers. Experts can observe the possibility of improvement or change on a specific point for the quality of the journal.

That I will, I am writing this in reference to bringing out some major technical points related to journal publications, for your kind notice and awareness.

I have observed many points given below, after studying many journals;

1. Journal is publishing regular issues, with a good no. of articles (available on the website).

2. Journal had archived all articles/issues

3. Instructions for authors, and policies.

4. Balanced national editorial board

but still many other technical points that one editor should know, these are;

1. No identifiers to the articles (DOI, ARK, etc. links to the metadata). The big problem is that no one can identify the citations of the articles if no Identifier URL is associated, and obviously, the impact of the journal affects by it.

2. No journal management website and “online peer-review process”, and articles are submitted through email (Gmail/Yahoo, etc.), which counted as a predatory journal practice.

3. No publications policies and licenses are defined, while articles are online accessible. Nature of the license and type of open access.

4.No article and journal information on the page.

5. No separate web page for each individual article. So the article is visible to search engines. No possibility to optimize the research article for search engines. No visibility means no citations.

6. Article indexing in the world’s repositories and only in renowned databases.
